Domaine Carneros Pinot Noir begins in the six different Estate Vineyards, which are green certified, and are located within four miles of the Château. Eleven different clones of Pinot Noir are grown and each one contributes its unique flavor profile and personality to make this compelling blend, a true mosaic of the Carneros terroir. After an early-morning harvest, while the grapes are still cool, the handpicked fruit is gently destemmed and cold soaked. Fermentation takes place in small, open-topped vats with punch-downs, resulting in heightened color and complex flavors. After pressing off, the finished wine went directly into French Oak barrels where it rested for ten months until bottling.

Harvest Note
2018 had the coolest temperatures we had seen since 2011, allowing an extended hang time for the fruit and longer flavor development. We had only one significant rainfall event, which occurred the first days of October. The biggest anomaly of the season was the chemistry. Historically high Malic acid levels in pinot noir caused delayed ripening and, therefore, harvest was delayed until September 10th.
Tasting Note
Bright pomegranate and poached cherry notes on the nose. Juicy red and darker berry flavors on the palate are backed up by delicate spice notes and supply tannins. This intense, full-bodied wine delivers a supply and silky mouth-feel and a lengthy, warming finish.
