Brunello Manachiara is the wine of sunrise, the wine from the East. Manachiara's vineyard is located in the East side of Montalcino with a South-East exposure at approximately 300 m a.s.l. and composed of sands rich in quartz and pliocene clays. Vines are planted using training system of spurred cordon with 4,500 plants per hectar. Harvest is conducted manuallly into cases in last week of September. The juice is fermented for at least 25 days at a controlled temperature of 82°F. After maceration the wine is matured for 18 months in French oak Tonneaux (Allier); followed by 12 months in large oak barrels from Slavonia. Finally the wine is bottle aged for at least 12 months.

2015 was a quite dry winter, with below average rainfall but with average temperatures for the time of year (January minimum 27°F and maximum 60°F). Total rainfall for the month of January 2015: 1.6 inches. The same seasonal performance was found in February, with minimum temperatures 28°F and maximum 60°F. Total rainfall for the month of February: 3.7 inches. There was no frost and no snow. Start of spring: March was characterized by average rainfall, with a total of 2.8 inches. Temperatures remained above average, oscillating between 35°F and 68°F at the end of the month.
Tasting Note
Deep winy red color, with the characteristic bouquet of fresh red fruit. Great tannic structure on the palate, with an excellent acidic framework. A wine with an excellent, lingering aromatic persistency in the nose and in the mouth.
