The fruit for this wine comes from vineyards near the town of Gavi, where calcareous clay, volcanic, iron and chalky limestone soils together with the area’s mediating Mediterranean breezes and cool mountain winds create an ideal microclimate for growing the Cortese grape to optimal ripeness. The 100% Cortese grapes are pressed without crushing, and the must is cold settled before undergoing a low-temperature fermentation. The wine is aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks until bottling.

Harvest Note
The start to the 2018 growing season in Piedmont was characterized by constant rainfall, which led to a cooler spring. This delayed the bud break by 20-25 days. Mid-summer saw strong hailstorms, damaging areas in Barbaresco & Roero. Summer concluded with a wide array of weather patterns – beautiful days with warm temperatures turning to cooler temperatures and thunderstorms. These factors led to a decline in quantity but the quality of the grapes did not suffer.
Tasting Note
Straw yellow with brilliant green hues. Elegant, fresh with the scents of golden apple, acacia flower, citrus and bread crust. Well-structured, fragrant. Good length with a finish which is round and savory.
Food Pairing
Carpaccio of meat and fish, sushi, spaghetti with clams, grilled fish.
