Oreno, named after the river that runs through the property, is the flagship of Tenuta Sette Ponti. The soils that produce the fruit for Oreno are a blend of clay, sand and the stony galestro limestone that is special to Tuscany. Clusters are reduced to one or two per stalk in May to assure maximum quality when they are hand harvested in autumn. In the winery, grapes are hand sorted and destemmed. Fermentation occurs in a combination of temperature-controlled and lined, open-top tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. Oreno is aged in French Allier barriques and in bottle before release.

Harvest Note
It was a regular vintage, temperatures were in the norm, there was some rains during spring-summer period, mainly every 15 days we had 30-40mm of rainfall. We had sunny weeks with standard temperatures (25degree during day and 18degree by night,) which allowed the formation of important sugars. September was perfect, although with a little bit of humidity, but it was very sunny and with very little rain. We got very interesting Sangiovese, with elegant tannins, and characterful Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot , with excellent colors and great structural concentrations. We can affirm that 2018 will be a vintage of extreme quality, characterized by very balanced wines with good freshness and concentration.
Tasting Note
Intense deep ruby red colour. The nose impresses with great aromatic richness and a complex bouquet of blackcurrant, small black fruits and delicate balsamic notes of menthol. In the mouth, the wine has velvety tannins and with aromas of black berried fruits that fill the palate with lingering persistence.
Food Pairing
Full flavored meats, game, roasted and braised red meat.
