Asili is a prestigious and historic Geographical Indication of the Barbaresco DOCG, a designation that limits vinification to four municipal districts in Langhe, including Alba, Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso. A terroir known for elegance, the Asili vineyard turns 360° around the eponymous hamlet. The vineyard has a South to South-West exposure, and the soil is calceareous marl and has a bluish color due to the high content of magnesium and calcium. The vines are 30-35 years old and are thinned of excess bunches at the end of summer, leaving 5-6 bunches per vine on average. Hand harvested grapes are fermented on the skins in oak vats and then aged for 18 months in average sized oak casks before refinement in the bottle.
