Unique is an elegant and refined metodo classico (Champagne method) sparkling rosé made with 100% Lambrusco Marani grapes. While this wine has the same classification (Reggiano Lambrusco DOC) as a typical deeply red hued and highly textured Lambrusco wine, Unique more closely resembles Franciacorta or Champagne. The Lambrusco Marani grapes, which are naturally high in acid – ideal for sparkling wines, are quickly pressed of the skins before fermentation. The lack of skin contact creates a delicate pink wine with restrained notes of red berry fruits and floral aromas. It is aged for 30 months on the lees, developing complex secondary aromas. After this long aging process, the wine is disgorged with a minimal dosage of 4 g/l added, making this wine Brut.

Harvest Note

The 2022 vintage was a challenging year; Emilia Romagna faced with hailstorms in the spring and early summer. Luckily the estate vineyards at La Rampata, where the grapes for Unique are grown, managed to avoid any damage from hail. The summer was once again very hot and required the family to implement targeted drip irrigation with their recycled water system to ensure the grapes would reach their full potential. The changing climate and resulting heat challenge the metabolism of the grapevine, something the estate works sustainably to mitigate in years of high heat. Fortunately, the fall ushered in some cooler weather and rain which help the vines produce beautifully mature fruit.

Tasting Note

Unique Metodo Classico Rosé has delicate soft red fruit and floral notes and fine, persistent bubbles that finish dry, with plenty of fresh acidity.
