A dry white wine produced from several sites near the winery in Turckheim. Biodynamic in both vineyard and winery, this wine ferments naturally over many months in large old oak casks, and is bottled in the summer following the harvest.
Harvest Note
This was a near perfect harvest in terms of overall ripeness, plentiful sunshine, several well-timed rains, and minimal disease pressures. The harvest began quite early on August 25th and was completed by September 15th. There were no late harvest wines produced in 2020.
Tasting Note
We observe an intense yellow color. The nose shows subtle floral notes, typical of the grape variety, but also complex, slightly reductive, mineral, leather and spicy/peppery aromas. It will benefit from air (carafe) and will continue to open up with age. The palate is vigorous, elegant and full of energy. Bone dry, with a velvety tannic texture, the palate shows an almost light red wine structure with a salivating finish.

Zind-Humbrecht excels with gewurztraminer, elevating this poorly understood type.
Remarkably food-friendly and versatile, especially in this very dry version.
Indice 1 (dry)
Good wine is made by people who actually do everything they say they are doing.
Gewürztraminer has unmistakably heady intensity of fragrance, with pungent aromas of litchis, tropical fruits and rose petals. Its flavors are ample, fruity and spicy rather than complex.
