The Gewurztraminer grape was always important in the village of Turckheim. Its position at the opening of the large Munster valley guarantees a warm and dry climate, especially during the ripening season, factors which are important for this grape that needs warmth and light to ripen properly. It is true that the greatest vineyards for Gewurztraminer are mostly located on richer marl/limestone soils, but the gravelly soils of Turckheim show generosity and pleasure in the wines. Ripeness is never an issue, but finding the right balance is the difficult part.

Harvest Note
Abundant sunshine and timely moisture led to a full crop with grapes in a fine healthy state. Full volumes returned especially with the vines which had been damaged by frost in the previous year.
Tasting Note
Exotic notes of rose petals, damp earth, exotic citrus fruits followed by full and expansive presence on the palate with substantial weight and a gracious elegant finish.
Food Pairing
Grilled white meats, seafood in cream sauce, pickled herring, and expressive oriental cuisines with strong spice elements.

Gewürztraminer has unmistakably heady intensity of fragrance, with pungent aromas of litchis, tropical fruits and rose petals. Its flavors are ample, fruity and spicy rather than complex.
