The 2021 Pinot-Blanc is exclusively originating from the gravelly valley floor of Turckheim. The proportion of the grape varieties is therefore slightly different compared to previous vintages, the Pinot Blanc being now 60% of the blend and the Auxerrois only 40%. Pinot-Blanc has recently proven to be more adapted to the drier and warmer climate of this vineyard. The classic balance of this wine allowed for a fast fermentation in our classic old oak foudres and was kept on full lees until bottling.

2021 vintage
Harvest Note
2021 was a challenging vintage which resulted in small volumes of extraordinary wines. The frost of April 6th significantly reduced the final harvest volumes. June & July saw heavy rains leading to rapid growth but unfortunately mildew also. August and September were sunny and dry, with harvest from September 15th to October 2nd. The small crop fermented quickly, alcohols were below usual levels, and all wines fermented completey dry.
Tasting Note
Bright pale yellow. Rich and powerful nose with white fruits (pear peach) aromas. There is a beautiful sense of ripeness of the grapes with aromas of honey and beeswax, citrus... Elegant palate with medium power but with good length and drinkability. Dry and structured mouthfeel with a silky finish. Ripe and very pleasant acidity. This is a delicate wine that has an attractiveness that will make it easily food friendly with a large selection of dishes that just need a classic dry medium power white wine!

About the Grape

Pinot Bianco
Pinot Bianco offers delicate aromas and fresh, plump, creamy flavors of pears and apples with notes of spice or minerals, depending on soil type.
Auxerrois
Auxerrois is often used in blends with Pinot Blanc, with which is it often compared, to yield still wines as well as Crémants d'Alsace. It lends body and an herbaceous, citrus character.
