Created as early as the 18th century and served in the royal French courts, rosé champagne is at the very source of the success of champagne in general. A symbol of joyful, liberated luxury in the “Roaring Twenties”, it is still highly prized today. It becomes an extremely rare, very exclusive pleasure with the Comtes de Champagne Rosé. This cuvee is only produced in exceptional years and is made from 100% Grand Cru Grapes. The Chardonnay grapes come from the most renowned vineyards of the prestigious Côte des Blancs, and the Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims. Only juice from the first pressing is used in order to ensure the structure and long aging potential that is so essential to this exceptional Champagne. 12% of the Pinot Noir is blended in as still red wine.

Harvest Note
Winter was very long and cold with little rainfall, while spring was mild and humid with little sunshine. June began with cool temperatures, and similar cool temperatures continued until harvest with some periods of rain. Harvest took place in cool weather with lots of sunshine.
Tasting Note
Fine, creamy bubbles abound in this exceptional cuvee. The nose is indulgent and fresh, evoking aromas of raspberry, black cherry, then lightly stewed peaches and pears, all of which is further elevated by subtle scents of menthol. At first taste the wine begins with incredibly fine & precise, then gives way to structured tannins that reveal the full power of the limestone Grand Crus terroirs from which it heralds. Held taught by a superb chalky acidity and exquisite freshness, the palate extends in beautiful, aromatic purity to leave an incredible lingering impression.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with white meats, lobster, cheeses such as chaource, or baked pears or morello cherry tart.

About the Grape

Pinot Noir
In France, makes a silky, deceptively powerful wine of elegant, complex aromas and subtle, red fruit flavors, with earthy, floral, mushroom and mineral notes. In California, shows ripe, sweet characters.
