The 2012 Comtes de Champagne Rosé is s total stunner. What a knockout! It is easily one of the finest Comtes Rosés I have tasted in recent years. Rich and enveloping, with tremendous depth, the 2012 has it all. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, white pepper, mint and slate infuse the palate with striking depth and nuance. The 2012 finishes with a classic sense of austerity. I admire its tension and overall resonance. The 2012 is a heady, exotic Champagne. I would be thrilled to own it. The blend is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with 14% still red Pinot. Dosage is 9 grams per liter.
A chalky rosé Champagne, with raw silk–like texture, this leads with hints of smoke, oyster shell and dried thyme, followed by a savory streak that underscores the palate’s dried raspberry, blood orange peel and blanched almond flavors. Fresh and focused through to the lightly spiced finish.
Beautiful orange-cherry color, exuding aromas of dried flowers, cherry stones, wild strawberries, cloves and cinnamon pastries. It’s medium-bodied with excellent weight and balance. Soft bubbles. Layers of soft, supple berry fruit. Pastries and walnuts come through on a seamless finish.
Cellar Selection
A great rosé Champagne, this relies on balanced ripe fruits and a fine texture. It is both taut and full of berry and citrus flavors that give richness to the wine. It is mature, but that has hardly dented the wine’s fruitiness and texture.
Impressively mature, this Champagne is ripe with a fine texture of spice, toast and well-aged fruits. It is a very fine wine, beautifully ready to drink at the top of its form and richness.
