The vineyards lie on the steep, southwest facing Langhe hillsides. Grapes are harvested an average of 10 to 15 days later than normal, resulting in extremely rich musts high in sugar and lower in acidity. Temperature controlled fermentation is followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in French Allier and Slavonian oak followed by additional aging in bottle.

Harvest Note
The 2016 vintage will be remembered for a long time thanks to its outstanding excellence in terms of quality. It has been a harvest characterized by a weather that has followed the norm of the season, presenting no type of anomaly and allowing very healthy grapes to reach perfect and uniform maturation at standard time. An appropriate thinning of bunches done by the end of August, has enabled the plant to channel all of its energy onto the few bunches on its last month, thus resulting in an excellent maturation aided by sunny days and cool nights. An outstanding vintage.
Tasting Note
Pure, high-toned red berry aromas and flavors with green peppercorn, spice and almond notes, surround a core of vivid acidity and moderate tannins. Similar in character to Barolo, but more delicate, this Barbaresco has great aging potential.
Food Pairing
This is a great wine for roasts, large game such as wild boar and venison and game birds such as pheasant, quail and partridge.

About the Grape

Young Nebbiolo can be tough, acidic and tannic; but mature, its blackberry and wild cherry flavors and aromas develop complex and sublime violet, rose petal, truffle and tar notes.
