Louis Jadot Chardonnay is vinified and blended from 100% Chardonnay grapes selected from quality wine growers in the Côte Chalonnaise, the Côte Mâconnais and the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. The wine is classified “Bourgogne Blanc” in appellation, but a proportion of superior village-level wines is added in most vintages to optimize the quality of the final blend. Made in a more full-bodied and structured style than most of Jadot’s Mâconnais wines, the wine is partially fermented and aged in oak casks to add a rich, round character.

Harvest Note
The 2014 growing season got off to a great start in Burgundy and finished strong, though July and August were rainy and cool. After a mild winter, spring was dry and warm. Flowering was early. High temperatures caused some millerandage (a combination of normal berries and small, seedless berries with thick skins.) Conditions were very dry until a big hailstorm in June. The Maconnais area had the best weather of all other regions. In spite of the wet weather and overcast skies that lingered until mid-August, warm temperatures in mid-seventies and sunshine took over in September. In the end there was no rot and moderate sorting, mostly where hail had damaged some grapes.
Tasting Note
Light, sprightly and easy to drink, this dry wine shows white flower and apple aromas, with a note of lemon.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with a range of foods, including poultry, pan-fried or grilled fish, and mild cheeses, such as goat’s milk varieties.

About the Grape

Chardonnay
Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
