Fruit for Le Difese is selected from Tenuta San Guido estate’s younger vines. Fermentation for both varieties takes place on the skins in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. The wine is matured in French and American oak barrels.
Harvest Note
The 2024 vintage opened with a cold, rainy autumn and a mild, dry winter, resulting in earlier heat accumulation than 2023. Late February–March rains restored soil water reserves without disrupting vegetative growth. A warm, sunny April brought early, uniform budbreak, briefly slowed by cooler, wetter weather without frost. Ideal conditions in May and June supported flowering and fruit set. July was warm and well ventilated, with veraison occurring about a week early. August heat was moderated by a mid-month weather front, while cool nights and wide temperature shifts ensured balanced phenolic and technical ripeness.
Tasting Note
Intense black fruit aromas and flavors as well as the vanilla and spice of oak in a full-bodied wine with supple tannins.
Food Pairing
Pair with grilled steak or steak salad, hamburgers and other casual but flavorful beef dishes. Has good acidity to compliment marinara and Bolognese sauces.

A mini Super Tuscan—shares a pedigree with Sassicaia
Matured for 8 months in oak barrels
The overwhelming success of Sassicaia, and now the introduction of two new wines, traces back to the ambition of Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta to plant Bordeaux varieties in Tuscany in the 1940s.
Cabernet Sauvignon is adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its low yield and late ripeness. It generally produces full-bodied wines with substantial acidity and tannins.
Sangiovese has aromas of black cherries with alluring wood, smoke, tar and herbal notes. The best wines made from this grape have incredible complexity, depth, finesse and power.
