This terroir is 1 hectare divided in 2 parcels, on a gentle slope oriented to the northeast. Vines average 60 years of age, and are planted in deep clay soils on a solid limestone base. The wine is vinified in barrels with 25% new oak, followed by 9 months in stainless steel tanks.
Harvest Note
The 2021 vintage was memorable for the extreme challenges it posed to growers. The defining event was a hard freeze in April which lasted several days, and the subsequent dramatic reduction in harvest volumes. Added to this were cool and wet summer conditions which required constant vigilance. The delayed harvest eventually yielded tiny volumes of pristine grapes which express a vibrant and energetic purity.
Tasting Note
Initiallly the most austere of the range, this develops with aeration (or aging) to reveal a bright and firm citrus presence and lively acidity which adds length and detail to the finish. Eventually the chalky and stony notes resolve into complex floral notes yet retain an essential salinity.
