On the Bolgherese provincial road, in the heart of the best production of Bolgheri wines, the Folonari family cultivates about 17 acres of Merlot destined for the production of Baia al Vento. It is a vineyard characterised by soils rich in minerals and iron that give the wine structure, elegance and abundance of aroma.

Tasting Note
This wine, characterized by a remarkable density, combines its impenetrable dark color with very rich scents blending blackcurrant and blackberries jam, with savage tones of black truffle. On the palate its volume is exceptional, opulent, with very subtle tannins.

About the Grape

Merlot
Merlot makes plump, succulent wines to drink young or opulently massive wines for aging. Has silky, blackberry and currant fruit, with spice, earth, tobacco and chocolate notes, and soft tannins.
Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc usually shows tart red cherry and wild currant aromas and flavors with an herbal, spicy character. In the Loire, esp. Chinon and Saumur-Champigny, this grape shows firm minerality.
