2021 vintage
Harvest Note
The 2021 vintage started with a mild winter with average rainfall. Budding got off to a slow start with a spring marked by lower than average temperatures, punctuated by warm weather during late March and early April. The rainfall was beneficial from April on-wards and then subsided between May and October. Thanks to the indomitable work of the teams and the temperature fluctuations between day and night, the vines did not suffer any water stress. The year 2021 is confirmed for Tenuta di Biserno as a vintage of remarkable balance and a flagship year for the reds.
Tasting Note
The glass releases an intense red color surrounded by brilliant ruby reflections. On the nose, the aromas of red berries and cherries explode together with peppery hints mixed with myrtle from the Mediterranean maquis, and then merge with toasted notes given by the wood. In the mouth, the attack spreads a vibrant and persistent acidity, which brings freshness. All this is enhanced by soft tannins on the palate that give silkiness in an enchanting drink.
Food Pairing
Pair with braised or roasted meats and hard cheeses.

About the Grape

Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc usually shows tart red cherry and wild currant aromas and flavors with an herbal, spicy character. In the Loire, esp. Chinon and Saumur-Champigny, this grape shows firm minerality.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its low yield and late ripeness. It generally produces full-bodied wines with substantial acidity and tannins.
Merlot
Merlot makes plump, succulent wines to drink young or opulently massive wines for aging. Has silky, blackberry and currant fruit, with spice, earth, tobacco and chocolate notes, and soft tannins.
Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot makes a dark, firmly structured, tannic wine with superbly balancing acidity, and fresh, full flavors and aromas of spice, pepper and black fruits with notes of violets.
