The 2020 Il Pino di Biserno is bottled sunshine. Rich, racy and voluptuous, the 2020 is such a classy Maremma wine. Succulent red cherry, blood orange, mint, spice and new leather are front and center. Silky and plush, with no hard contours, the 2020 is seriously impressive and delicious. Pretty floral top notes lift the finish. Don’t miss it
The Tenuta di Biserno 2021 Il Pino di Biserno is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet-adjacent aromas come through nicely with dark fruit, blackberry and exotic spice. The wine is full-bodied in texture and structure, although it manages slightly more contained richness on the mid-palate. That gives Il Pino a more accessible disposition. It closes with a bright note of sweet cherry.
This red delivers a mix of dark fruit and herbal flavors, with black currant, blackberry, rosemary and licorice notes. The finish is a touch compact now, yet this is complex and long overall. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2036.
Aromas of ripe berries and fresh herbs with hints of wet earth and pine, too. Full-bodied with lots of ripe and round fruit. Lots of redcurrants in the palate. Soft and fine-textured. Slightly tight at the end. Dense. Better in two or three years, but already very attractive.
Extremely perfumed and aromatic with rose petals, lavender and violets. Hints of fresh herbs to the blackcurrant fruit. Medium-to full-bodied with very fine tannins and a long, persistent finish. It goes on for minutes. I love the balance of this. Drink or hold.
