2020 vintage
Harvest Note
A mild winter with average rainfall, followed by a spring characterized by lower than average temperatures, with a slow start to budding, delayed by about seven days. Warm temperatures at the end of March/beginning of April, followed by a return to cooler weather. Rain finally fell in mid-April, with regular rainfall in May. No rain between late May and early October. The vines did not suffer any water-related stress despite the dry conditions, thanks to the cool night temperatures and the rain that fell during the month of May. The harvest began in the second week of September with the Merlot grapes, continuing with the Cabernet Franc and ending, in the first week of October 2020, with the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot
Tasting Note
Ruby red in color with purple hues, the nose releases a complexity of aromas ranging from ripe red fruits and Mediterranean scrub to delicate notes of tobacco and spices. Smooth, silky and delicious on the palate, with a balance of thick and elegant tannins, and a long finish.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with game dishes, roast pheasant or rich game stews. Slightly chilled, it is equally good in summer with picnics and barbecues.

About the Grape

Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc usually shows tart red cherry and wild currant aromas and flavors with an herbal, spicy character. In the Loire, esp. Chinon and Saumur-Champigny, this grape shows firm minerality.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its low yield and late ripeness. It generally produces full-bodied wines with substantial acidity and tannins.
Merlot
Merlot makes plump, succulent wines to drink young or opulently massive wines for aging. Has silky, blackberry and currant fruit, with spice, earth, tobacco and chocolate notes, and soft tannins.
Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot makes a dark, firmly structured, tannic wine with superbly balancing acidity, and fresh, full flavors and aromas of spice, pepper and black fruits with notes of violets.
