The 5-acre Constanza Vineyard in the Maule region was originally planted to Malbec in 1923. Warm days with cool nights and constant sea breezes ensures slow ripening for balanced and concentrated fruit. The vineyard is managed without any irrigation and allowing open canopy growth. This allows good ventilation and limits sun exposure which result in profuse and classic fruit aromas. Primary fermentation took place over 28 days. Aged for 15 months in new, medium toasted French oak barrels that belong to the “Icone Elegance” series from the famed Seguin Moreau cooperage. The wine contains only naturally occurring sulfites and is neither filtered nor clarified prior to bottling in order to preserve the wine’s authentic character.
Deep purple almost black color with glittering highlights. The stylish and complex nose offers a wide array of aromas including blackcurrant and dark cherry mingling with subtle notes of spices. The palate immediately shows all the wine’s density and refinement: very forward ripe fruit flavors with perfectly integrated, velvety tannins revealing a remarkable complexity in the structure and excellent balance. The finish is opulent and extremely long.
