At a considerable altitude for Alsace of between 820 feet and 1150 feet, Goldert Vineyard’s slope is oriented east, southeast and enjoys an appreciable amount of sunshine. The vineyard benefits from late maturation, guaranteeing wines with well-balanced acidity. Zind-Humbrecht's dedication to terroir expression guides all winemaking practices, which include extended pressing cycles, abbreviated clarification cycles (to retain natural yeasts and proteins in the must), natural malolactic fermentation and extended aging on the lees. The wine is aged 18 months in 40-year-old French barrels.

Harvest Note
This site is at an altitude that was unaffected by the Spring frost and the vines produced a relatively full crop with excellent balance.
Tasting Note
The intense nose clearly displays the vineyard character. The expected exotic fruits and floral aromas are joined by minerality that shows the strong limestone influence. The palate is vibrant, racy and zesty, with a fantastic crisp finish.
Food Pairing
Savor as an aperitif or as an exquisite match to asparagus.

About the Grape

Moscato Bianco / Muscat d’Alsace

Muscat Ottonel
Muscat Ottonel is the most delicate member of the Vitis Vinifera Muscat family in terms of color, aroma and flavor. Sensitive to noble rot, Muscat Ottonel is often used in late harvest or dessert wines.
