At Tuscany’s southwest edge, due south of Arezzo, lies the Montepulciano region, where Torcalvano is located. At 300 meters in elevation, the soil at Torcalvano is rich in clay, and slightly skeletal. High vine density, low average yields and later October harvests combine to produce grapes with concentration, complexity and a mature, balanced ripeness. The wine is fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and undergoes maceration on the skins to give it a rich color. It is matured in traditional large oak casks and in bottle before release.

Harvest Note
The 2019 season opened with a rather regular winter both in terms of temperatures and rainfall; despite these climatic conditions, the vineyards began budding one week earlier than the historical average of the area. The spring period, and May in particular, was characterized by frequent rains with temperatures slightly lower than usual, while the months of June and July were dry and quite hot, but without ever showing extreme conditions. Some rain in August and a dry and windy period in September and October allowed the grapes to ripen in an ideal way, guaranteeing a good sugar content and an excellent polyphenolic maturation.
