Insoglio del Cinghiale is the foundation wine for estate Tenuta di Biserno. The majority of the vineyards are located in a different location called Campo di Sasso, just further down the hill from Tenuta di Biserno. A supple and early maturing wine, Insoglio is a distinctive and distinguished introduction to our project.

Harvest Note
The 2019 weather brought regular spring with a nice warm summer and nice cool nights similar to 2016. 40% of the wine was aged for 4 months in second-use French oak barrels. This is a great vintage - very balanced, elegant, yet rich and complex.
Tasting Note
Insoglio has a medium intense nose of dark fruits, blackberries, some floral notes and a hint of spicy oak in the background. A light to medium rich body with a fine structure and balance. The wine will gain in balance and complexity as it further ages in bottle.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with game dishes, roast pheasant or rich game stews. Slightly chilled, it is equally good in summer with picnics and barbecues.

About the Grape

Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its low yield and late ripeness. It generally produces full-bodied wines with substantial acidity and tannins.
Merlot
Merlot makes plump, succulent wines to drink young or opulently massive wines for aging. Has silky, blackberry and currant fruit, with spice, earth, tobacco and chocolate notes, and soft tannins.
Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot makes a dark, firmly structured, tannic wine with superbly balancing acidity, and fresh, full flavors and aromas of spice, pepper and black fruits with notes of violets.
Syrah
Syrah has seductively dense, rich, chewy black berry aromas and flavors, with notes of tar, wood smoke, bacon, leather, chocolate, and sometimes violets. The tannins are firm yet elegant.
