This is Tenuta di Biserno's founding wine. The original label with the picture of the wild boar and the name “Insoglio"; which translates to the place where this animal goes to root and roll, express the soul and culture of the Maremma. Very fruity, fine, linear and versatile.

Harvest Note
A mild winter with average rainfall, followed by a spring characterized by lower than average temperatures, with a slow start to budding, delayed by about seven days. Warm temperatures at the end of March/beginning of April, followed by a return to cooler weather. Rain finally fell in mid-April, with regular rainfall in May. No rain between late May and early October. The vines did not suffer any water-related stress despite the dry conditions, thanks to the cool night temperatures and the rain that fell during the month of May.
Tasting Note
Ruby red with purple hues, the nose releases a complexity of aromas ranging from ripe red fruits and Mediterranean scrub to delicate notes of fresh tobacco and spices. Smooth and silky on the palate, yet sustained by an acidic streak that gives a crisp and persistent finish
Food Pairing
Pair with braised or roasted meats and hard cheeses.

About the Grape

Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its low yield and late ripeness. It generally produces full-bodied wines with substantial acidity and tannins.
Merlot
Merlot makes plump, succulent wines to drink young or opulently massive wines for aging. Has silky, blackberry and currant fruit, with spice, earth, tobacco and chocolate notes, and soft tannins.
Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot makes a dark, firmly structured, tannic wine with superbly balancing acidity, and fresh, full flavors and aromas of spice, pepper and black fruits with notes of violets.
Syrah
Syrah has seductively dense, rich, chewy black berry aromas and flavors, with notes of tar, wood smoke, bacon, leather, chocolate, and sometimes violets. The tannins are firm yet elegant.
