Clay and sand soils as well as Tuscany’s special stony galestro limestone, combined with ideal sun exposure and a climate tempered by the Mediterranean, provide an ideal climate for the Sangiovese grape. Low yields of excellent-quality hand harvested fruit ensure a rich and concentrated result. Following hand sorting and destemming, grapes are fermented in a combination of temperature controlled and lined open-top tanks. Crognolo is aged in French Allier barriques and in bottle.

Harvest Note
The winter season at Tenuta Sette Ponti recorded temperatures in line with the seasonal average, low and steady with daily rises in the hottest hours. Rainfall was present and moderate, sufficient to restore water reserves in the vineyards. Spring arrived slightly early, dictating the timing of vine planting, with returns of cold weather and minimal rain. Grazed by a late frost that, however, left no significant damage. Flowering developed at the turn of May and June, resulting in small clusters, which shortly thereafter took shape, becoming clusters of the new production. The summer was hot and intense, but the constant ventilation created the ideal microclimate for the grapes, which were also supported by irrigation that punctually restored balance and preserved production. The vineyards ripened evenly, promising great quality.
Tasting Note
Intense ruby red color. Delicate floral notes of violet and enticing orange peel meet with a hint of sweet spices. Elegant with juicy tannins and great vivacity. Notable purity and drinkability.
Food Pairing
Fine meats, game noble, braised red meats.
