Riesling Turckheim 2023

2023 yielded a very small harvest for Riesling in this area and therefore this wine combines the Turckheim vines with much older vines typically intended for the Roche Roulee cuvee. Drought conditions in these gravely soils resulted in very small grapes, decreasing volumes but increasing aromatic potential. Harvest was delayed while fermentations proceeded smoothly.
Harvest Note
The summer of 2023 is mainly marked by drought and a technical maturation later than the physiological maturation. This explains why, with such favorable weather, the 2023 wines are harmonious and show a lower alcohol level than most previous years. Acidities are normal and particularly ripe. The 2023 wines have a beautiful aromatic expression and a ripe mouthfeel without excessive weight. A good phenolic maturity should also guarantee a good aging potential on the great terroirs.
Tasting Note
Light pale-yellow colour. Very nice expression of ripe fruits on the nose, tending towards bergamot, citrus fruits, vine peach. Medium intensity but precise and clean. We can really feel the character of the vintage through a successful physiological maturity on a delicate and elegant harmony, with an aromatic display of ripe fruits. This wine remains on a very fine and elegant texture; on the finish it reveals a light structure which supports the dry balance of this wine well.
