The Rangen produces powerful, intense wines, marked by the influence of a late climate (altitude, cold valley) on a very solar geology and situation. The sedimentary volcanic rock is hard, breaks into angular stones, to end up producing fine elements (clay) which will migrate deep into the geological faults. This mineral richness influences the wines of the Rangen with flinty aromas and a saline mouthfeel.

2024 vintage
Harvest Note
The 2024 vintage will certainly be remembered as an unusual one which defied climate change. Rainfall was 30% to 50% above average and extremely high temperatures were largely avoided. Well-drained soils were key to achieving consistent fermentations.
Tasting Note
Everything is there: power, length, intensity, harmony, saline acidity... These descriptors cannot convey the emotion that this wine evokes. The Rangen is a harsh terroir that requires heroic viticulture.
