This wine is made from a blend of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois (50/50), from vines located on the gravelly terroir of Turckheim (Herrenweg) but also since this vintage, from vines planted just below Clos Windsbuhl, on limestone soil covered with a thin layer of sandstone.

Harvest Note
The summer of 2023 is mainly marked by drought and a technical maturation later than the physiological maturation. This explains why, with such favorable weather, the 2023 wines are harmonious and show a lower alcohol level than most previous years. Acidities are normal and particularly ripe. The 2023 wines have a beautiful aromatic expression and a ripe mouthfeel without excessive weight. A good phenolic maturity should also guarantee a good aging potential on the great terroirs.
Tasting Note
Bright pale-yellow colour. The nose is already open on white fruits (peach, pear...) with a significant influence of the presence of limestone soils bringing a smokiness and an unusual minerality to this blend. The mouth is enveloping, with a velvety and round touch developing a beautiful elegance. It is a very dry wine but without sharpness which offers a very beautiful drinkability associated with a surprising length in the finish.

About the Grape

Pinot Bianco
Pinot Bianco offers delicate aromas and fresh, plump, creamy flavors of pears and apples with notes of spice or minerals, depending on soil type.
Auxerrois
Auxerrois is often used in blends with Pinot Blanc, with which is it often compared, to yield still wines as well as Crémants d'Alsace. It lends body and an herbaceous, citrus character.
