Friuli is an ideal region for growing white wine grapes like Sauvignon Blanc. It is protected by the Alps to the north and receives the sea breeze from the Adriatic Sea in the south. The favorable conditions were known even in Roman times when the region was devoted to winemaking.

The gravelly, sandy subsoil of Friuli forces the roots of the vine to grow deep into the earth in search of water. As the vine struggles, its fruit grows richer, resulting in full, well-structured wine with remarkable minerality. Select handpicked grapes of optimum ripeness are gently pressed immediately after harvest and undergo a cold-temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks. As there is no malolactic fermentation or oak aging, the finished wine is a beautiful expression of the Sauvignon Blanc grape.

2021 vintage
Harvest Note
The 2021 vintage is an excellent vintage similar to recent harvests with good acidity for all varieties. The year began with a cold and rainy winter. The spring, particularly in April, was cold with frost in the southern part of the region towards the Adriatic Sea. Fortunately, the frost did not affect the areas of Grave del Friuli and Collio. May and the first two weeks of June were colder than normal with frequent rainfalls, causing a very slow budding and delay in flowering. Mid-June underwent a sudden change with a sharp temperature increase. The water saturation from early in the year combined with heat waves strengthened the skin of the grapes. The climate was excellent in the three weeks before harvest was excellent, with sunny and ventilated days and large temperature variation between the days and nights.
Tasting Note
Straw yellow in color with light green tints. The aroma is rich and complex with notes of yellow bell pepper, tomato leaf, and sage. This wine is dry with great body and a long, aromatic finish.
