The Montes Classic Chardonnay hails from some of the finest Chardonnay-growing sites in Chile's Casablanca and Curico Valleys. The Casablanca Valley contributes a cool climate expression of Chardonnay with fresh citrus and floral notes, while the warmer Curico Valley adds tropical components to the blend including pineapple, peaches and apricots.

2018 vintage
Harvest Note
The 2017-2018 vintage was as close to ideal as a winemaker could hope for in terms of grape quality. Abundant winter rainfall helped replenish groundwater while the frost-free spring allowed for uniform bud break and fruit set. The summer months brought relatively cool temperatures which ensured slow ripening and excellent preservation of natural acidity and aromatic expression in the grapes. Due to a lack rainfall throughout the rest of the growing season, the grapes were harvested in excellent conditions and at peak ripeness.
Tasting Note
Pale yellow in color tinged with gold. The expressive nose offers notes of white peaches, pineapple, and fresh apricots with vanilla and toasted nut aromas in the background. The palate is well balanced with fresh acidity and a fruit-driven finish.
Food Pairing
Pair with salmon ceviche, sea bass with sautéed mushrooms, fettucini Alfredo, and razor clams.

About the Grape

Chardonnay
Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
