This plot was acquired by Andre Gagey in 1985 and planted to Chardonnay, unusual for the Beaune appellation. Lying at the foot of the Grèves premier cru this site features deeper clay and alluvial silt which contribute to the overall full body and rich texture of this white wine. Manual harvesting and rigorous sorting are followed by fermentation with natural yeasts and aging in cask for 14 months.

About the Grape

Chardonnay
Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
