Les Granières captures the spirit of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with its mosaic of soils and grape varieties. The name originates from the granary, or attic space where the château used to store grains at a time when local agriculture included food production. Made from the estate’s younger vines, this blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault & Mourvèdre expresses a lively and fruit-driven character. The wine is aged in casks and ‘foudres’ or old, large French oak barrels (no new oak is used). Bottling is done earlier than the estate’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge to capture the wine’s marvelous fruit expression and elegant tannins. Enjoy upon release!

Harvest Note
The 2023 vintage began with a dry and mild winter. Spring was wet with the rain providing the water needed for the growing period. Summer was hot and dry, triggering moderate water stress. There was a heat wave in mid-August but some rain followed with a stress-free period until harvest. For the first time in decades, there was no time pressure and it was easy to isolate a large number of different plots.
Tasting Note
Bright ruby red with garnet hints. This rich yet approachable red wine offers notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry with Mediterranean accents like thyme, rosemary and licorice. The tannins are elegant and the finish and long and deep.
Food Pairing
Grilled beef rib, vegetable lasagna
