Les Granières captures the spirit of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with its mosaic of soils and grape varieties. The name originates from the granary, or attic space where the château used to store grains at a time when local agriculture included food production. Made from the estate’s younger vines, this blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault & Mourvèdre expresses a lively and fruit-driven character. The wine is aged in casks and ‘foudres’ or old, large French oak barrels (no new oak is used). Bottling is done earlier than the estate’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge to capture the wine’s marvelous fruit expression and elegant tannins. Enjoy upon release!

Harvest Note
The 2021 vintage was a stressful year but ultimately resulted in a good classic vintage. A warm and dry winter was followed by a mild and wet spring. A strong frost hit France in early April but spared Château La Nerthe plots thanks to the Mistral wind and proximity of the Rhône River. A moderate summer with no water stress was followed by storms in September and October, and a long and stressful harvest. The result was a good vintage with good acidity and fruity aromas.
Tasting Note
Bright ruby red with garnet hints. The aromas of raspberries, cherries, and ripe strawberries are balanced by peppery spice notes. Balanced on the palate with notes of fresh raspberries and plums, supported by fine tannins and a spicy finish.
Food Pairing
Grilled beef rib, vegetable lasagna
