The grapes of this Pinot Noir are 100% hand-harvested from selected blocks at our Estate-owned Te Muna Road Vineyard, one of the most prestigious growing sites within the Martinborough region of New Zealand and from other distinct areas of the appellation. The grapes are destemmed (85%) prior to whole-bunch fermentation in a combination of open top stainless steel tanks and French oak cuvees using indigenous yeasts. The wine ages nine months in French oak barriques, 7% new, before being fined, course filtered and bottled.

Harvest Note
The 2017 vintage was marked by a cool, windy, and wet start to the season that created conditions for lower yields. As the summer in New Zealand progressed, the temperatures in February and March returned to average historical temperatures, which allowed the fruit on the vines to mature and develop to full ripeness prior to harvest.
Tasting Note
Bright cherry with crimson hue. Aromatic dark cherry melds with dried herbs and subtle oak char. The wine is vibrant across the palate with svelte red fruits and velvety tannins finishing savoury and dry.
Food Pairing
This wine pairs very well with all types of poultry and also serves as a wonderful aperitif.

About the Grape

Pinot Noir
In France, makes a silky, deceptively powerful wine of elegant, complex aromas and subtle, red fruit flavors, with earthy, floral, mushroom and mineral notes. In California, shows ripe, sweet characters.
