In 2001, Alta Vista became the first Argentine winery to produce single vineyard wines. Alta Vista developed its Terroir Management® system for wine growing and winemaking, wherein grapes grown in distinctive sites express the true characteristics of each vineyard through distinctive wines. These vineyards, located in Luján de Cuyo, were planted in 1935. This terroir has great thermal amplitude and there is almost no risk of frost. The climate is dry and soil is clay-loam, deep with pebbles 13 feet from the surface. Irrigation is traditional, with water from the Andes Mountains and groundwater. he selection massale vines are simple Guyot pruned and produce medium-sized clusters, with loose and fine grains.
