One of the 26 Premiers Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin, Lavaux-Saint-Jacques is located at the beginning of the Combe de Lavaux on clay and chalk soils that bear a resemblance to those of the nearby Grands Crus. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented for up to one month in vats, and then the wine is matured for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Concentrated aromas and flavors of black berries, leather and spice combine with a fine tannic structure and long finish. This wine will develop in the bottle for five to eight years.
