Gevrey-Chambertin, in which lies the Grand Cru vineyard of Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze, is the most northern of the great communes of the Côte de Nuits and includes 26 Premiers Crus and 8 Grands Crus. The vineyard faces east. Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to 4 weeks, then the wine is aged 18 to 20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
This rich, sumptuous wine has an extraordinary balance of power and elegance. The finely wrought texture finishes with lingering notes of berries and oak. This wine will improve in the bottle for 20 to 25 years.
