Green Practices

Cakebread Cellars has been a certified Napa Green Winery since 2008 and all estate vineyards are Napa Green Land certified. The Napa Green Winery program promotes reducing energy, total waste and water use and encourages recycling in all aspects of winery operations. In 2018, Cakebread Cellars received the California Green Medal Business Award in recognition of innovation in and implementation of sustainability-based employee practices such as carpooling and employee training. In 2023, Cakebread received the Green Medal Community Award, making it one of only three wineries to receive multiple Green Medal Awards. In addition, in October 2022, Cakebread reached Silver-level membership status with the IWCA, a collaborative working group of environmentally committed wineries taking a science-based approach to reducing carbon emissions across the winer industry. The winery continues to work with them on implementing strategies and business practices to mainstream sustainability at Cakebread Cellars.
