Sequoia Grove Napa Valley Chardonnay is hand-harvested in the cool morning hours. Upon arrival at the winery, the Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed to tank and racked with all lees to barrel to begin native fermentation. The wine finishes primary fermentation in 100% French oak barrels, with one third in new French oak. The Chardonnay is then aged for 11 months on the lees where it undergoes bâtonnage (lees stirring) every two weeks until malolactic finishes completing the full natural process of the wine.

Our Chardonnay is sourced primarily from Haire Vineyard in Carneros from 30-year-old Wente and Robert Young clones planted specifically for Sequoia Grove. The balance of the fruit is sourced from vineyards throughout the southern part of the Napa Valley. These quality vineyard sources create complexity and structure in the finished wine.

2023 vintage
Harvest Note
2023 is anticipated to be a top vintage for Napa Valley. A wet winter and ample spring rains broke years of drought, leading to a delayed budbreak in one of the coolest growing seasons in four decades. Ideal, cool, and moderate harvest weather, free from heat spikes or rain, created a "winemaker's vintage." This allowed for optimal picking times, fostering natural acid and flavor development, resulting in fresh, aromatic wines. Expect a classic vintage of complexity, balance, and lush fruit.
Tasting Note
Lively notes of white pineapple, lemon curd, and apricot preserves, with hints of jasmine and orange blossom followed by a touch of salinity. A complex palate with flavors of white peach, lemon meringue, toasted vanilla bean, wet stone, and crushed granite that join with a vibrant, balanced acidity making this Chardonnay extremely versatile for pairing with a variety of dishes. This medium-bodied Chardonnay is creamy, round, bright and balanced.
