Volnay is 100% devoted to production of fine red wines that are historically distinguished by their sublime elegance and subtlety. Soils in this appellation are very thin and white at the upper slopes with increasing depth of red clay lower down. Mitans position downslope and near the Pommard border is obvious in this wine's powerful structure and earthy complexity.

2022 vintage
Harvest Note
2022 was a hot and dry growing season which was saved by significant rain in June. This allowed the vines to withstand summer heat and drought and led to ideal sanitary conditions and a modest yield yet concentrated vintage.
Tasting Note
Ethereal strawberry scents float above hints of mossy earth and wet stones, evolving into brown spice notes with time. On the palate this is sleek and subtle, with abundant yet delicate tannins and bright supporting acidity that provides extraordinary length to the finish.
