Mullan Road Cellars was founded in 2012 by Dennis Cakebread of the renowned Cakebread Cellars winery in Napa Valley. A 40-year veteran of the wine trade, Dennis embarked on a mission to make a world-class Washington State wine embodying the rich history and terroir of the Northwest. Inspired by the adventurous 1850s expedition to build the first wagon road into Eastern Washington, Mullan Road Cellars celebrates the pioneering spirit with each wine it blends. The grapes for Mullan Road Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon come from several outstanding, low-yielding vineyards in the newly designated Royal Slope appellation including Stillwater Creek Vineyard and Lawrence Solaksen Vineyard.

Harvest Note
The 2022 growing season started with a wet, cold winter, leading to increased soil moisture. A spring blizzard from April 11 to 14 damaged buds and delayed bud break by two to three weeks. However, the cool, moist conditions and a light 2021 crop resulted in a fruitful season. Summer temperatures soared in late June and remained above average in July and August, and October's warmer temperatures led to an outstanding finish. This vintage is anticipated to be exceptional, particularly for high-end red wines.
Tasting Note
On the nose, this Cabernet Sauvignon features rich aromas of blackberry, black currant, and plum, with hints of floral black tea. It reveals deeper notes of black fruit and fig, complemented by baking spice. On the palate, it delivers a full-bodied experience with sweet tannins and a mix of red and black fruit, culminating in a vibrant finish with a hint of raspberry ganache.
