Referts is a parcel within Puligny but just at the border with Meursault. Consequently, the wines exhibit both Puligny elegance and Meursault firmness. Soils are a mix of light clay and limestone pebbles with exposure to the Southeast. Fermentation is with natural yeasts, maturation occurs in oak barrels, and malolactic fermentation is controlled to retain energy and structure.

Harvest Note
2023 was a hot and dry growing season which was saved by significant rain in June. This allowed the vines to withstand summer heat and drought and led to ideal sanitary conditions and a modest yield yet concentrated vintage.
Tasting Note
This is a full-bodied dry white wine, with an expansive texture framed by bright acidity. Initial aromas include roasted pear and lemon curd, with more subtle damp earth and stone nuance emerging. The finish is long with floral notes and an elegant, supple opulence.

About the Grape

Chardonnay
Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
