The steep red limestone slopes of the Rotenberg vineyard turn from a full north facing to west facing. The domaine owns almost 2ha on the part facing west, looking at the imposing Vosges mountains topped here by the big Hohlandsbourg medieval castle. (Going on the rampart of this fully restored castle will offer an amazing 360° view on the Alsace valley floor, vineyards and mountains, seeing the Alps also on a clear day!). Enjoying a late sunrise and early sunset, this vineyard is capable of retaining good acidity and structure every vintage. It was also capable in the past, in late ripening vintages, to produce amazing late harvest wines. Today, the harvest is much earlier, and the grapes possess a balance that allows for the production of racy dry wines, perfectly illustrated in the 2022 vintage.

Harvest Note
2022 avoided the severe frost conditions of the prior year and the vines grew rapidly in the Spring months. The dry and hot conditions kept disease to a minimum but adversely affected flowering and caused a significant reduction in the overall crop size. A few late storms brought needed moisture but also some isolated hail damage. Harvest occurred from August 22 to September 20 according to each vineyard's situation.
Tasting Note
Yellow bright colour. Discreet nose opening on citrus fruits with a tight feel, typical of the red limestone of the Rotenberg. The palate is actually more expressive than the nose, with a suave, velvety texture revealing more white fruits aromas, honey, some exotic fruits. It offers already today lots of pleasure and satisfaction with a long after taste.
