The Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère for the Limited Selection blend are sourced primarily from Montes' Finca Apalta Estate vineyard with some additions from their Marchigüe Estate vineyard. These two unique vineyards feature granite-rich soils in differing degrees of decomposition. Both have considerable variation in the clay content, depth, and organic matter from the influence of erosion and deposits from local rivers over time. The soils are generally deep in the flat areas and thinner at the foot of the mountains and at higher elevations. Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on flat or slightly sloping ground where the soil is deeper and has a moderate capacity for moisture retention. Carmenère is planted in deep, rich soils, with moderate water retention.

Harvest Note
The 2019–2020 season began with a very dry winter, just as Chile has been seeing for multiple seasons. The scarcity of water explains the significant decrease in yields, around 15–20%, impacting the final quality of the wines. Spring had no significant frost in the Colchagua vineyards, so they had excellent conditions for growth. Summer saw high temperatures that accelerated the ripening of the grapes, resulting in an early start to white and red grape harvests—up to a month in some cases. The low fruit yields in our vineyards meant bunches arrived at harvest with small grapes, which directly and positively affected the concentration of aromas, flavors, and color in the case of the red wines, providing high-quality grapes for winemaking. Both in the Apalta vineyards and at the Marchigüe property, winemakers were able to harvest at the correct moment and in an orderly fashion, always guided by a tasting of the grapes, allowing to accurately project the quality of the resulting wines.
Tasting Note
Deep, dark red in the glass, the aromas are a mix of red and black fruit. On the palate, strawberry, cherry, blackberry, and blueberry are underlined by notes of pastries, candied fruit and berry syrup. Hints of dark chocolate and toasted nuts round out the finish with silky tannins and full body.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with stir-fried beef, pork chops, spaghetti bolognese, lamp chops, and mushroom risotto.
