This Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced primarily from Montes' Finca Apalta Estate vineyard with some additions from their Marchigüe Estate vineyard. These two unique vineyards feature granite-rich soils in differing degrees of decomposition. Both have considerable variation in the clay content, depth, and organic matter from the influence of erosion and deposits from local rivers over time. The soils are generally deep in the flat areas and thinner at the foot of the mountains and at higher elevations. Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on flat or slightly sloping ground where the soil is deeper and has a moderate capacity for moisture retention.

Harvest Note
Chile finished a relatively dry winter with rainfall concentrated in short bursts, but which totaled 20 inches, a level not experienced in more than ten years. This water availability provided a good supply for the vineyard, right up to harvest time. Budbreak and fruit set took place as expected, without spring frost, thus assuring the production of good-quality bunches. After ripening finished, Chile’s Central Zone experienced significant rainfall. This created a huge amount of work in the vineyards, to increase ventilation and enhance fruit drying. Winemakers were able to react in time, which allowed them to reach harvest with healthy grapes of good quality. Generally speaking, the season was fresher than the previous one, a consequence of which were grapes with better color and aroma concentration, ideal to create a fresh wine with great personality.
