The origins of Bouvet Ladubay lie in the "Tuffeau" stone of its cellars. The legend says that Etienne Bouvet found the treasure of the Monks of the 11th Century Abbey of St Florent. In 1987, Patrice Monmousseau uncovers his treasure by creating "Trésor", the first Cuvée of the house aged in oak barrels. Grapes were selected from Saumur's renowned AOC vineyards and the wine was made using méthode traditionelle.

2016 vintage
Harvest Note
During the 2016 growing season, the vines of the Loire Valley were severely tested. Frost at the end of April was followed by very high humidity in May and June. Drought conditions characterized the summer months of July and August. The result was a harvest with very low yields across the appellation. September rainfall helped to bring about a positive end to the growing season however, with very healthy grapes and overall, a harvest of good quality.
Tasting Note
This opulent wine features Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay and is aged in oak barrels to reveal a delicately structured cuvée. Enjoy aromas of brioche and citrus with a creamy texture and well-balance tannins.
Food Pairing
Best enjoyed as an aperitif. Can be expertly paired with fruit tarts and even fish dishes in a light, buttery sauce.

About the Grape

Chardonnay
Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
Chenin Blanc
Depending on the soils, Chenin Blanc can be lush, with stone fruit and pear characters; or quite dry, with green apple and beeswax notes.
