2021 vintage
Harvest Note
2021 began with a mild, wet winter. The vines were slow to bud, and spring was characterized by below average temperatures, but with a hot spell in late March and early April, with regular rainfall. The usual hot and dry summer weather prevailed from the end of May right through until the end of the harvest. Thanks to precious water reserves, regenerated by precipitation in winter and spring, and the fluctuation in temperatures from day to night, the vines were not subjected to water-related stress. 2021 is confirmed as a vintage of remarkable balance for Tenuta di Biserno.
Tasting Note
The color is a deep, vibrant, intense ruby red. The nose offers surprising intensity and elegant complexity of aromas. Herbs and aromatic spices emerge from the ripe black and forest fruits, with hints of roast coffee and dry pastries followed by delicate ageing notes resulting from the time spent in barriques. With a finely integrated taste, this wine is full and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a freshness that invites you to drink it. Balanced, harmonious, fine and expressive, it is capable of constant evolution.

About the Grape

Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc usually shows tart red cherry and wild currant aromas and flavors with an herbal, spicy character. In the Loire, esp. Chinon and Saumur-Champigny, this grape shows firm minerality.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is adaptable to various growing conditions, and is known for its low yield and late ripeness. It generally produces full-bodied wines with substantial acidity and tannins.
Merlot
Merlot makes plump, succulent wines to drink young or opulently massive wines for aging. Has silky, blackberry and currant fruit, with spice, earth, tobacco and chocolate notes, and soft tannins.
Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot makes a dark, firmly structured, tannic wine with superbly balancing acidity, and fresh, full flavors and aromas of spice, pepper and black fruits with notes of violets.
