There are 36 Premier Cru vineyards in the Beaune appellation, a high number accounted for by the situation of most of the Beaune vineyards on a slope, which gives them superior sun exposure. Red wines from the northern part of the commune are light in color with soft fruit flavors; those from the central and southern areas are powerful, tannic and deeply colored. Cent Vignes is made from numerous Premier Cru vineyards. After being destemmed, the fruit is fermented in open tanks for up to 33 days. The wine then ages in oak barrels for 15 to 18 months.
This elegant, vivacious Pinot Noir has aromas and flavors of black currants, red fruit and licorice. It will develop for 10 to 15 years in the bottle.
