Kobrand Corporation proudly announced the latest addition to its portfolio, Alta Vista, a French family-owned winery focusing on high altitude, site-specific wines. Alta Vista owns high elevation vineyards in Mendoza and Salta, Argentina’s best regions for Malbec and Torrontés, respectively.
Kobrand President & CEO Robert T. DeRoose elaborated on the move into Argentina, “Argentina continues to be one of the industry’s fastest growing categories. We sought to enter this segment with a partner who had the highest quality products, practices, people and relationships. Alta Vista met our standards on all counts. Honoring family heritage is a Kobrand touchstone and has helped guide our successful management of icon brands including, Maison Louis Jadot, Cakebread Cellars, Tenuta San Guido (which makes Sassicaia) and the Fladgate Partnership Ports. We’re excited to add Alta Vista and its founders, the d’Aulan family, to this list.”
Alta Vista was founded in 1997 by the d’Aulan family, former owners of Champagne Piper-Heidsieck and current owners of a prestigious estate in Hungary’s Tokaj region. Alta Vista began with the goal to make wines that faithfully express terroir with the highest possible quality. After an exhaustive global search, distinctive vineyards were discovered in Argentina. Alta Vista is an optimal combination of Argentine knowledge of Malbec and French winemaking philosophy. In pursuing their goal to make terroir-expressive wines, Alta Vista has pioneered both Terroir Management™, a trademarked method that adapts the vineyard work to each separate plot, and Argentina’s first single vineyard Malbec wines in 2001. Alta Vista has had a significant impact on raising the overall profile of wines from Argentina in the world’s wine markets, changing the global perception from anonymous, bulk production wines to serious, terroir-driven, limited-production cuvées that challenge the best from the great wine regions of the world.
Alta Vista owner Patrick d’Aulan explains his selection of Kobrand as the exclusive U.S. importer for his family’s winery, “We were meticulous in a search for a partner with innovative sales and marketing capabilities. Kobrand’s seven decades of successfully identifying, developing and positioning luxury wines is unparalleled. In addition, quality, passion and education form the heart of both of our highly regarded, privately held, family enterprises.”
Represented by the Wine Division of Kobrand Wines & Spirits, Alta Vista will be managed by Brand Manager Tomislav Cvjetkovic, who remarked, “It’s a pleasure to represent one of Mendoza’s pioneering wineries.”
The Alta Vista range has three lines: Classic wines are made for everyday consumption, and their fruit-forward character is a perfect introduction to the best of Argentina. Premium wines are made from estate-grown fruit and benefit from vineyard management that maximizes the expression of each variety. Luxury wines represent a true benchmark, capturing the distinct characters of each terroir from estate vineyards in the finest locations. All estate vineyards are distinguished by their high elevation.
