Together with Macabeo and Xarel-lo, Parellada is a part of the blend of Cava, Spain’s traditional method sparkling wine. The best Cavas are crisp, lemony and mineral.
Parellada has a tendency to overcrop when planted in fertile soil. For fine Cava, the vine is grown in the cooler high limestone terrain above the Penedès valley near Barcelona.
Parellada is native to the Catalan region of Spain.
